I live and work in the rural town of Waukeenah, Florida, located east of Tallahassee in the so-called “Big Bend”:  the part of Florida where the peninsula meets the panhandle.  Beyond my domestic family (a husband, a dog, and two cats), I am surrounded by grandmotherly live oaks, stately pines, deer, turkeys, and the occasional rattlesnake.  

 

I stumbled upon metalsmithing in 2005, after a lifetime of making things with soft materials like fiber and clay.  I particularly enjoy working with the hard metal to bend and hammer it into organic forms.  Metal is honest, and it has a kind of life.  I have to respect it in order to persuade it to take shape.
